After over a decade of faithful ministry and countless invitations from Whole World Ministry my sojourn was long overdue. At this point in my life, I've been all over the world. I've ventured into the Amazon jungle, climbed the wild mountains of the Philippians, and hiked into remote villages in Honduras. This would be my first timestepping on the African soil. While there are too many stories to tell I can sum up my account with three main observations.
Observation 1:
The Holy Spirit moves on mountain tops. While there is no way to know how high we were I can testify that we were high enough. This village was easily the most remote place I've ever been. Here on the top of this mountain was a little church filled with hungry hearts. As the Word was preached and the invitation was given people began to cry out for the Holy Spirit to fill them. He did it in the most beautifully and tangibly way.
Observation 2:
Prayer cannot be reduced to a formula. It does not matter what language you speak, what praise and worship style you prefer, or what your socioeconomic history is. A voice connected to a heart can reach the ears of God. While my Ugandan brothers and sisters do not pray like me, they pray, and God responds.
Observation 3:
The rumors are true. In John 3 Nichodemas secretly meets Jesus to learn for himself if the rumors are true. This mysterious miracle worker, Jesus, is disrupting the daily rhythms of life in Judea. His ministry is constructing an alarming reputation giving rise to wild rumors and whispers of prophets and messiahs, and the arrival of God's kingdom. Nicodemus needed to hear it and see it for himself.
I've heard stories of God's activity in the Ugandan church. There are testimonies of healings, salvations, and powerful moves of the Holy Spirit. My hope on this trip was to hear it and see it for myself. I am proud to carry this testimony. I have observed and experienced the move of the Holy Spirit, the healing of broken hearts, orphans finding homes, hungry families receiving food, people testifying of healing, hopeless people finding fresh hope in Jesus, and church leaders deeply encouraged to continue their work.
The rumors are true. God is working. I want to give a Hugh thank you to those whose support blessed me with the opportunity to finally take the long trek with Mom and Dad. It was a great trip.
