Grace clutches her baby close as her other two children walk beside her along the dusty road from their village in rural Uganda. At 24, her eyes already carry the weight of years of struggle. Each morning, she rises before dawn to dig in the fields, build fires for cooking, and fetch water - all while caring for her children alone after her husband abandoned them.
"Sometimes I feel worthless, like I am nothing more than property," Grace whispers. "The physical abuse I endured from my husband before he left... it made me believe I deserved nothing better. But something inside me still hopes for change."
Grace has heard about the women's conference, where others like her have found new purpose and strength. It's a 3-hour journey from her village, and attending means leaving her daily chores undone. But she dreams of attending, of finding community with other women who understand her struggles.

Each day is a struggle for survival. He searches through trash for food and tries to stay invisible to those who might harm him. But Samuel dreams of more - he remembers loving to learn and misses having clean clothes and regular meals.
